A couple of plein air sketches

Now that summer is officially here I am hoping to spend more time painting ‘en plein air’ (out in the field).  To get me in the mood here are a couple of paintings I made in early May using my small 6 x 8″ pochade painting box. Not only were the paintings made ‘in the field’, they WERE of a field….on a sunny morning…!

Me with my prize winning painting at Patchings

Me with my prize winning painting at Patchings

I am very pleased to announce that I have received an award from Daler- Rowney at the Patchings Open Exhibition for my mixed media painting ‘ Spring Stream, Barnsdale Woods’.

Although the festival has now finished the exhibiton of paintings continues at Patchings Arts Centre until 24 July.  Please take a look of you can.  There are some great paintings both in the Leisure Painter and The Artist categories.  If you can’t visit in person you can take a look online –  see http://www.patchingsartcentre.co.uk/TALP/TALP_Exhibition/gallery_view.php?Ref=?1520_4&Entrant=?56ebb9061976e and vote for your favourite.

If you are interested in buying my painting you can do so via Patchings Art Centre.  The price seems to have gone amiss on the website but is £145 for the original framed painting.

Wicken Fen continued….

Here are the remaining two paintings of the series recording Wicken Fen in March.  As with the first painting, these are both mixed media works on paper.
