The Great Stamford Brush Off

I have just spent an enjoyable couple of days plein air painting with other artiists from the Welland Valley Arts Society.  The weather was fabulous and of course there were plenty of wonderful views in Stamford for us all to paint.   Our event also coincided with the annual Stamford music festival, providing additional interest.

These are my three ‘bijou’ works from the event.  They and the paintings made by other participating artists are currently on exhibition at Stamford Arts Centre for the next two weeks.  Do take a look!

As the weather has been so unpredictable I have been doing some studio painting, catching up on the reference material I gathered earlier in the year.  We had a fabulous showing of bluebells in Barnsdale Woods this Spring.  Lots of people were taking photos.  This is my version using mixed media and lots of splattering!
