Spring and Autumn

A couple of small paintings with not very imaginative names…..!

I’ve had a bumper crop of apples this year so an Autumnal still life was not hard to set up, although I have tried to add a little more interest by adding collage too.  My little Spring painting arose from using up some paint left on the palette and was really fun to do.  It is based on my favourite bluebell wood at Rutland Water.  Both paintings are now for sale at £45 each from the mini paintings section of my website http://sarahjenningsartist.com/gallery_707298.html

This weekend I will be hanging some paintings in the anteroom at Stamford Arts Centre where they will be on show throughout November.  More to follow on this.

A sur’prize’ ing exhibition!

Looking rather surprised…

I am pleased to report that not only were the four paintings I submitted to The Welland Valley Art Society Autumn Exhibition selected and hung – but one of them won the top prize, the Gladys Teesdale award! I’m delighted – and was rather surprised when I found out, as this photo will attest.

The three other paintings on show include a new one I put up on my social media pages a few days ago called ‘Water’s Edge’.  A slight detour into semi abstraction, which I am enjoying.

Here’s a photo.  Blues never translate well to photographs (although I’m no great photographer).  The version on the wall looks better.  If you are local, why not pop down and take a look?  Lots of other lovely artworks there too 🙂 The exhibition is now open at Stamford Arts Centre until 13th October.
