Allotment Greens (30cm x 30cm mixed media on paper)
I thought that it would be fun to revisit an allotment I painted in the Spring and this is the result.
My original painting was titled ‘Allotment Blues’ – https://sarahjenningsartist.wordpress.com/2017/05/26/allotment-blues/
The plot has since greened up dramatically and I have tried to emphasise the enclosed feeling by purposely excluding the sky. I was particularly attracted to the way the white flowers of the hollyhocks contrasted with dark shed on the left and the splashes of orange in the distance. Still love the blue shed too!
Ready for the party, Wells next the Sea (10″ x 8″ oil on board)
Busy, busy, busy. Where is the summer going? It’s been rather a long time since my last post but I haven’t been lazy. I have not done as much painting as I would have liked but have been concentrating on moving into my new studio -very exciting!
I am now off for a couple of weeks to the Scottish Highlands and planning on returning with lots of sketches and maybe a few small paintings. Watch this space!
This painting is a small oil inspired by a trip this Spring to the beach at Wells next the Sea (Norfolk), which is famous for its colourful beach huts. I found a particular hut was decorated with balloons but no one was home. Maybe the celebrations were to come?
Fields looking towards Empingham (oil on board 8 x 10″)
Summer – where was it? Fortunately I was able to catch some of the few warm days we experienced in what was a pretty poor summer. Fields that had been yellow with oil seed rape earlier in the year suddenly turned warm yellow in mid July.
River Feshie (water colour sketch 21 x 13 cm)
A short trip to Chester and two weeks in the Scottsh Highlands provided some great sketching opportunities and I managed to take lots of photos. Here is a small water colour sketch made next to the beautiful River Feshie.
After a fairly quiet time of it in August I am now back to painting in earnest in preparation for a pop art show in October in support of MNDA. Watch this space for more details!
