Red, Amber, Green

city street with buildings cars and reflections

Red, Amber, Green (35cm x 35cm mixed media and collage on mount board)

More collage and more rainy London!  I was initially attracted to the green reflections from the traffic lights on the wet surface of the pavement.  Then I noticed that the lights in the buildings were glowing yellow (amber?) as dusk was approaching.  Red brake lights completed the picture.  I had my own traffic light combo – no problems choosing a title for this painting!

A glimpse of St. Paul’s…..

A Glimpse of St. Paul’s in the February Rain (30cm x 35cm mixed media and collage on mount board)

I had fun using collage with mixed media for this view of St. Paul’s cathedral and the Millennium Bridge from the Thames.  I tend not to use collage often for rural scenes but it somehow seems quite appropriate for urban ones.  Much of the original collage has been covered by acrylic inks and/or acrylic paint and I certainly enjoyed the mark-making – and of course the splatters!
