Tree amongst the Bluebells (6″ x 8″ acrylic on canvas board)
Apples and Pears (6″ x 8″ mixed media and collage on board)
A couple of small paintings with not very imaginative names…..!
I’ve had a bumper crop of apples this year so an Autumnal still life was not hard to set up, although I have tried to add a little more interest by adding collage too. My little Spring painting arose from using up some paint left on the palette and was really fun to do. It is based on my favourite bluebell wood at Rutland Water. Both paintings are now for sale at £45 each from the mini paintings section of my website http://sarahjenningsartist.com/gallery_707298.html
This weekend I will be hanging some paintings in the anteroom at Stamford Arts Centre where they will be on show throughout November. More to follow on this.
It’s been a long old time since my last post. Many apologies! I’ve not been idle.
My award winning painting ‘The Winding Road. Yorkshire Dales’ appeared in the October issue of Leisure Painter magazine, which was exciting!
An appearance in October’s Leisure Painter magazine
On 22 and 23 September I took part in ‘The Great Stamford Brush Off’, a plein air painting event organised by Welland Valley Art Society. The event coincided with Stamford’s Georgian Festival this year and the weather was very kind. Completed paintings were exhibited in the anteroom at Stamford Arts Centre for the following week and I was fortunate to sell two of them. Rather stupidly I forgot to photograph the paintings before they were framed under glass – so you will see reflections from the camera flash in the images below. I was working in mixed media and the paintings were great fun to do. They represent a celebration of a lovely warm Autumn weekend. I hope the new owners enjoy them as much as I enjoyed painting them.

Bumper Crop (daily painting) (6″ x 6″ acrylic on board)
We have a bumper crop of apples in the garden at the moment and I thought that rather than paint them conventionally I would have fun exprimenting with colour theory. I have started by painting the board a rather vivid Phthalo Blue and made a semi-abstract image on top of the apples and foliage which, being red and green, are ‘complementary’ colours – in other words colours opposite to each other on the colour wheel. Bit of a zingy one – but I like it!
