Life’s a Beach

Inspired by my trip to Spain over the summer I have completed a small series of (well, three!) paintings of beach scenes.  You might have seen them already if you follow me on social media but here they are all together.  They are also now on my website http://sarahjenningsartist.com/gallery_698663.html

I’ve got plenty more ideas for future paintings so watch this space!  It’s been interesting how the Mediterranean light has caused me to change my colour mixes.  For instance I’ve used Cerulean Blue a lot more than I would in the UK.

I am handing in paintings today for selection for the Welland Valley Art Society Autumn Exhibition which starts on Monday 1st October and runs until 13th October at Stamford Arts Centre.  I’ll be reporting back on that next time but if you are local and free that day please do come along to the Preview event this Sunday, 30th September from 11.30am – 1.30pm.  It would be lovely to see you! I’ll also be on stewarding duty at the gallery on Friday 5th October from 10am to 12.30pm so please do say ‘hello’.

Red, Amber, Green

city street with buildings cars and reflections

Red, Amber, Green (35cm x 35cm mixed media and collage on mount board)

More collage and more rainy London!  I was initially attracted to the green reflections from the traffic lights on the wet surface of the pavement.  Then I noticed that the lights in the buildings were glowing yellow (amber?) as dusk was approaching.  Red brake lights completed the picture.  I had my own traffic light combo – no problems choosing a title for this painting!
