Abstract Experiments

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break.  Spending time with the family meant that I didn’t get much painting done but it is always a useful time to reflect and make plans for the year ahead.

I’m back at the easel and will be posting new work soon but in the meantime I hope you will indulge me rounding up here a selection of abstract paintings I made towards the end of last year. I posted them on my social media pages and forgot to post here.  Oops!

Inspired by the landscape of North Wales I experimented with the simplification of shapes and colour.  In the purple series further texture was added with the addition of paper collage.

Having had fun abstracting shapes from the landscape I went a step further and created a series of completely abstract paintings concentrating on texture and colour.  These are in mixed media (acrylic inks, acrylic paints and oil pastel) and I particularly enjoyed playing with the use of orange and blue (so-called complementary colours on the colour wheel).  The paintings are only small (each image measures 5″ x 5″) and the only photos I have of them show them framed up but you get the idea!

I’m not sure where I am going with these recent paintings but I guess that’s the fun of creating!

As always, you can  find all of my available paintings on my website https://sarahjenningsartist.com/

From my website you can find links to my pages on social media (where I post most often) and you can sign up to my mailing list on my website home page  – or here! http://eepurl.com/dNxYMQ

I am very much looking forward to a creative 2019 and many thanks for joining me on my journey!
