Patchings, small flower paintings and my next solo exhibition

It was lovely to welcome visitors to my Open Studios events over the weekends of 22/23 and 29/30 June.  Many thanks to those who came, chatted, made purchases and generally put up with the antics of our enthusiastic new puppy, Bramble!

As I currently have the job of ‘chief puppy carer ‘I am having to grab time to paint at the moment and I have been enjoying making some small ‘pochade’ sized paintings (6″ x 8″) inspired by flowers in my garden.  It is just as well that I was able to record them in paint as Bramble is doing a good job of digging holes and eating the flowers that remain!

All three are available to buy for just £50 (unframed) from my website here should you be tempted  https://sarahjenningsartist.com/gallery_707298.html

I currently sell my paintings from the website unframed as this helps to reduce the cost of delivery.  I would of course be happy to assist or advise on framing, should this be of interest.

My work in The Artist exhibition at Patchings Art Centre

I popped over to The Artist exhibition at Patchings Art Centre this weekend to see the selected works and have a look at the hang of my mixed media painting ‘Three Palms’.  It is lovely to have had my work chosen again and find it hanging with paintings from professional artists and art tutors whose work I admire.  The exhibition runs until 11th August (with free entry and a lovely tea room and art supply shop…..) but if you can’t make it you can see images of the selected works here and vote for your ‘People’s Choice’.  There are some great paintings on show https://www.painters-online.co.uk/gallery/PatchingsGallery.htm

My next solo exhibition at Stamford Arts Centre

On the subject of tea rooms, Stamford Art Centre cafe has just had a refurbishment which is well worth checking out and if you visit in September you will see my work hanging in the ‘anteroom’ (the bottom section of the cafe adjoining the rooms for hire and the main gallery).  If you are local do take a look and let me know what you think.  It is always lovely to get some feedback!

I wish you all a lovely summer in the meantime.  As always do get in touch if you have any queries, about my paintings or otherwise.  I am frequently posting on my Facebook and Instagram pages too.

Patchings exhibition 2018

‘Blue Sky, Purple Shadows’ hanging in The Artist exhibition at Patchings Art Centre

A rather belated update on the exhibition of one of my paintings at Patchings Art Centre, Nottinghamshire.

I popped over to see the exhibition on 15th July on the last day of the Patchings Art, Craft & Design Festival.  Now in its 25th year, the festival is always a lovely event.  There are lots of art materials to tempt the pocket and it’s great to see artists demonstrating their painting in the marquees – although I confess I was pleased not to be one of them.  It was boiling hot! (hence, incidentally, the image above of me looking rather red and weary :))

My painting, ‘Blue Sky, Purple Shadows’ was one of only 70 selected for exhibition in an open competition run by The Artist magazine so I am very pleased to be included, as you can imagine. Although the Festival is now over the exhibition continues until 12th August so there is still plenty of time to visit.  You will find a mix of high quality, mostly figurative, work in a variety of styles and media – and a coffee shop next door too!

Should you feel inclined to vote my painting your ‘People’s Choice’ (thank you!) you can do so here http://www.painters-online.co.uk/gallery/PatchingsGallery.htm

From that link you can also see the other works on show and you can find directions to Patchings Art Centre via their website  http://www.patchingsartcentre.co.uk

I plan to post some new work soon.  There are a few things I have been working on which are a little different.  Touch and go at the moment whether they work…….!

Exhibition news and other updates

It’s been a long old time since my last post.  Many apologies!   I’ve not been idle.

  • My award winning painting ‘The Winding Road.  Yorkshire Dales’ appeared in the October issue of Leisure Painter magazine, which was exciting!

An appearance in October’s Leisure Painter magazine

  • On 22 and 23 September I took part in ‘The Great Stamford Brush Off’, a plein air painting event organised by Welland Valley Art Society.  The event coincided with Stamford’s Georgian Festival this year and the weather was very kind.  Completed paintings were exhibited in the anteroom at Stamford Arts Centre for the following week and I was fortunate to sell two of them.  Rather stupidly I forgot to photograph the paintings before they were framed under glass – so you will see reflections from the camera flash in the images below. I was working in mixed media and the paintings were great fun to do.   They represent a celebration of a lovely warm Autumn weekend.  I hope the new owners enjoy them as much as I enjoyed painting them.
  • I am exhibiting 4 paintings in the main gallery at Stamford Arts Centre as part of Welland Valley Art Society’s Autumn Exhibition, which opens today and runs until 14 October.  Here are the selected paintings.

Welland Valley Art Society have put on a great exhibition and it’s well worth a visit.  There are paintings, prints and sculpture on show – see the Arts Centre website http://www.stamfordartscentre.com

Patchings 2017 – and an award

Patchings exhibition 2017

I am delighted to have been chosen to exhibit again this year at The Artist and Leisure Painter Patchings Competition and exhibition – and excited again to be a prizewinner (£250 worth of materials from Caran D’Ache)!

The exhibition opened in conjunction with the start of the Patchings Art, Craft and Photography Festival (which took place 13 – 16 July) and continues to run at Patchings Art Centre, Nottinghamshire until 20 August.  If you are in the area, do pay it a visit.  If you are unable to get there all of the exhibited works and prize winners can be seen on the following website – where there is also the chance to vote for my painting as your People’s Choice, should you wish https://www.patchingsartcentre.co.uk/TALP/TALP_Exhibition/gallery_view.php?Ref=?d&Entrant=?LP0411

Patchings Festival 2016

DSC_0043

I am delighted to discover today that my painting ‘Spring stream, Barnsdale Woods’ (see last post) has been accepted for exhibition in the Leisure Painter category at the Patchings 2016 Art Competition and Exhibition and another, ‘Bluebells near Easton on the Hill’, has been ‘highly commended’ and will be shown on the Patchings website (www.patchingsartcentre.co.uk).  To have been selected for exhibition is very special.  My work will be seen by hundreds of visitors to the art festival between 9 and 12 June and judged by artists I greatly admire.
