I am still alive and painting. Very many apologies for leaving it so long to post here. Memo to self – get organised!
What have I been up to since February you might ask? Well..
-
-
Two Trees (30 cm x 25 cm mixed media on mount board)
-
-
Copse (6″ x 18″ mixed media on mount board)
-
-
Stand of Pines (18″ x 6″ mixed media on mount board)
I’ve been playing around with mixed media and trying out some unusual painting formats (very long landscape and very tall portrait), which has been fun to try.
I’ve been painting some square ones too – in a slightly larger size then usual (16″ x 16″) and on canvas rather than board – and that’s been interesting (see below)
-
-
After the Rain (16″ x 16″ acrylic and mixed media on canvas)
-
-
Late Winter Lane (16″ x 16″ acrylic and mixed media on canvas)
I’ve been exhibiting some allotment paintings at Rutland County Museum, a mix of landscape and abstract paintings at Stamford Arts Centre as part of the Welland Valley Art Society’s Spring Exhibition (winning a commendation along the way, which was nice :)) and I have had paintings selected for and exhibited at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery as part of the Vivacity Open 2019 competition. It’s been a busy time!
The Vivacity Open exhibition is still on until 26th May so if you are local do pop in and take a look. Here are the two paintings that got in (see below). It’s a fun, contemporary exhibition with lots of lovely artwork and sculpture on show –https://vivacity.org/heritage/visiting-the-museum/

-
Bluebell Carpet (16″ x 20″ acrylic and oil on canvas board)
-
-
Water’s Edge (20″ x 20″ mixed media on canvas)
Patchings again!
Three Palms (30cm x 30cm mixed media and collage on mount board)
I am really pleased to have one of my paintings, Three Palms, selected for exhibition in The Artist magazine exhibition at Patchings Art Centre again this year. As you may know, this is a very popular open competition which draws hundreds of entries from the UK and overseas. It’s exciting and lovely to know that my work will be on show with some of the ‘household names’. This is the fourth year in a row that my work has got through which feels great. The exhibition runs from 11 July to 11 August (coinciding for the first few days with the Patchings Art Festival) – see https://www.patchingsartcentre.co.uk/patchings-festival/
Open Studio time
I am excited to be taking part in both Rutland Open Studios and Peterborough Artists Open Studios events this year and opening up my garden studio to visitors on
- Saturday/Sunday 22/23 June 10am – 4 pm
- Saturday/Sunday 29/30 June 11am – 4.30pm
Do come along if you are free (and bring your friends and neighbours!). I can’t guarantee we will have the fabulous weather we had last year but I can assure you of a warm welcome. I will have original paintings on show (and for sale) with some prints and cards. For more information see https://www.rutlandopenstudios.co.uk/and http://paos.org.uk/visitors/
Phew! A very quick round up – and thanks for sticking with it. Do get in touch with any comments or queries. It would be lovely to hear from you.
